Skipping is one of our favourite 'conventional cardio' exercises and we often do it to warm up and cool down before and after our weights sessions. We also like to include skipping in our weights based circuits sometimes, we generally do it as the last exercise in the circuit where we skip for approx. 30 seconds at a fast pace. We also love doing interval skipping, where we will skip at a fast pace for 30 seconds, then skip slowly for 15 seconds, then fast for 30 seconds and then rest for 30 seconds and then repeat several times. This is great if you can't get to the gym and want to burn some calories at home or outdoors, we always have a skipping rope in the boot of our car.
Don't forget though, the staple of our Base Body Babes training is weights based. We believe it is the best way to shape our bodies and keep us strong, fit and healthy. We get a great cardiovascular response from our weights training and for this reason we don't really do the more traditional forms of cardio. However, when we do decide to add some other non weighted exercises to our training for variation, we love skipping, boxing, stair runs and sprints for a little fun.
